# The Ideal Leggings Enchantments

Swift Sneak is the rarest enchantment in the game and it only goes on leggings — here is what it actually does.

Leggings carry the shared armor build plus exactly one slot-specific enchantment — but it happens to be the single rarest enchantment in the entire game.

## Swift Sneak III — loot-only

Swift Sneak increases your sneaking speed by 15% of your walking speed per level, so at level III you sneak at 75% of your walking speed instead of 30%. It's flagged `treasureOnly` **and** not discoverable through normal enchanting-table rolls or villager trades — the only way to obtain it is as a book from a loot chest inside an Ancient City structure, deep in the Deep Dark biome. That makes it the rarest enchantment source in the game (soul_speed and the newer wind_burst share the same "loot-only, undiscoverable" flag, but Swift Sneak is the one that lives on leggings). If you have one, it's worth building around; if you don't, everything else below still makes a complete, excellent pair of leggings on its own.

## Protection IV (or a specialist swap)

The same general-vs-specialist fork every armor piece has, mutually exclusive with Fire/Blast/Projectile Protection.

## Unbreaking III + Mending

No exclusions with Swift Sneak or Protection, so all four stack freely on one item.

**Why can Swift Sneak only go on leggings?**

Swift Sneak is registered in the leg_armor enchant category, the only piece-specific category restricted to that one slot — the same way Respiration/Aqua Affinity are head-only and Depth Strider/Frost Walker are foot-only. It's also the first enchantment ever added that's exclusive to leggings specifically.

**Can Swift Sneak and Protection coexist on the same leggings?**

Yes. Swift Sneak has no listed exclusions, and Protection only excludes its three specialist Protection variants. Both fit on the same pair of leggings alongside Unbreaking and Mending with zero conflicts.

**How do you actually get Swift Sneak?**

Only as a loot-only enchanted book from a chest inside an Ancient City, deep in the Deep Dark biome. It's flagged treasureOnly and cannot be rolled at an enchanting table or bought from a villager, which makes it one of the rarest enchantments in the game to acquire.

**Is Swift Sneak III actually the max level?**

Yes, Swift Sneak caps at level III. At that level you sneak at 75% of your walking speed instead of 30% — valuable for moving quietly through an Ancient City without waking the Warden.
