Projectile Protection reduces damage from arrows, tridents, fireballs, and other projectiles specifically — at double plain Protection's rate against that one category.
What Projectile Protection actually does
Each level reduces projectile damage by 8%, up to 32% at level IV — compared to plain Protection's 4% per level against everything including projectiles.
How to use it
Projectile Protection is the right swap-in for Skeleton-heavy fights, raids (Pillagers/Evokers), or any prolonged ranged-combat scenario. Like the other situational protections, it gives nothing extra against melee, fall, fire, or explosion damage — plain Protection remains the better all-purpose default outside dedicated anti-ranged gear.
Well-known builds that use it
Not part of the standard armor builds (which use plain Protection) — Projectile Protection is a deliberate swap for dedicated anti-ranged-combat gear, such as a raid-farm or Skeleton-grinder loadout.

Frequently asked questions
Is Projectile Protection better than Protection against arrows?
Yes, specifically — 8% reduction per level vs. Protection's 4%. Against melee, fall, fire, or explosion damage, Projectile Protection does nothing extra.
Does Projectile Protection help against a Skeleton's arrows more than regular Protection?
Yes — this is exactly its intended use case: dedicated gear for prolonged ranged combat, like a Skeleton grinder or raid farm.
