Lure cuts how long you wait for a bite — it doesn't change what you catch, just how often you get the chance to.

What Lure actually does

Each level reduces the wait time before a bobber bite by 5 seconds. Stacked across levels, a Lure III rod gets you noticeably more bites per minute of fishing than an unenchanted rod, since the base wait time is otherwise fairly long and random.

How to use it

Lure is the throughput enchantment — more bites per unit time, which multiplies the value of Luck of the Sea's better odds per catch. The two stack with no conflict, which is why they're almost always paired on the same rod rather than picked one-or-the-other.

Well-known builds that use it

Lure III is standard on The Ideal Fishing Rod Enchantments, alongside Luck of the Sea, Unbreaking, and Mending.

Frequently asked questions

Does Lure improve what you catch?

No — that's Luck of the Sea's job. Lure only shortens the wait time between bites; it has no effect on treasure/junk/fish odds.

How much faster are bites with Lure III?

15 seconds shorter wait time (5 seconds per level) compared to an unenchanted rod.
