The Ideal Leggings Enchantments

Leggings carry the shared armor build plus exactly one slot-specific enchantment — but it happens to be the single rarest enchantment in the entire game.
Swift Sneak III — loot-only
Swift Sneak increases movement speed while sneaking, up to fully canceling the usual crouch-walk slowdown at level III. It's flagged treasureOnly and not discoverable through normal enchanting-table rolls or villager trades — the only way to obtain it is as a book from a loot chest inside an Ancient City structure, deep in the Deep Dark biome. That makes it the rarest enchantment source in the game (soul_speed and the newer wind_burst share the same "loot-only, undiscoverable" flag, but Swift Sneak is the one that lives on leggings). If you have one, it's worth building around; if you don't, everything else below still makes a complete, excellent pair of leggings on its own.
Protection IV (or a specialist swap)
The same general-vs-specialist fork every armor piece has, mutually exclusive with Fire/Blast/Projectile Protection.
Unbreaking III + Mending
No exclusions with Swift Sneak or Protection, so all four stack freely on one item.
